Hello lovelies! Happy May! How is it May already? Like, what happened to April? It was April fools day yesterday, wasn't it?! I feel like April was over in the blink of an eye. It was a really strange month for me actually...
April did not start out great for me at all. Ever since I'd had the CT scan in March it felt like my whole body was attacking itself and I went into a sudden seriously painful rheumatoid arthritis flare-up, which hit me out of nowhere like a ton of bricks, and I put ordered on bed rest until I could see my rheumatologist - thankfully I only had to wait a week and it meant that I got to watch lots of Bones with my bestie (if you haven't watched it already and love Silent Witness then you need to it's so good!). In the meantime, not only did Phil and I have to cancel our day out to Chester Zoo which we had planned for our daughters birthday who has heartbreakingly passed away but, I also missed my blood transfusion which in all honestly after doing some research into it all I'm not sure I actually want it so if anyone has ever had a blood transfusion let me know your thoughts about your experience?
The middle of April turned out a lot better. I had my appointment with my rheumatologist who sat and listened to a few changes I want to make with my health and agreed that there is no harm in trying them, which really put my mind at ease because the stress of my health lately has really been getting to me. Once my health was sorted I started to feel so much more happy, motivated and positive again, and basically back to my old self which I was thrilled about. We also celebrated my best friend Colin's birthday this month, I can't believe that he has turned thirty-five!
April ended really amazing. I had a great hospital appointment with my haematologist who listened to me, understood my worries and answered all of my questions. My husband and I had a really wonderful day out to Southport which we really enjoyed and to be honest, really needed as we had been cooked up in our home for weeks saving money, doing our home up a little and working loads. All in all, April turned out to be a really great month for me and I am going into May feeling so motivated, positive and happy - I feel like my old self again which makes me so happy!
How was your April? Do you have anything special planned for May? I'd love to know your thoughts so please leave me a comment below letting me know.
With love, Alisha Valerie. x

DeleteIt seems like you had a roller-coaster of a month! I'm glad your health got better towards the end of the month - I hope it continues to do so. My month was quite busy, filled with working many hours, my birthday and tons of university deadlines. April went by way too quickly. It's actually scary how fast time goes these days!

DeleteOh yes!!!!! Bones is the BOMB! I freaking love Tempe and relate to her sooooo much with the social awkwardness!
ReplyDeleteSo, I have had a blood transfusion before. I'm not sure why you're having one (but I suspect different reasons to me). I had one because, how to put this delicately, several episodes of more than minor blood loss had my blood pressure on the floor and my HB levels dangerously low. Essentially I was seriously ill due to blood loss and I'm not sure I would have survived waiting for my body to naturally replenish my blood supply. The night before my transfusion I was losing my vision (it was black around the edges) and I was unable to stand unaided.
The actual transfusion was fine, I was a little creeped out watching the fluid in my IV line being red rather than clear, and my period suddenly started mid-transfusion as well which was mildly hilarious.
I had 3 units - just enough to get me out of the danger zone (and I was still mildly anemic a year later, but that cleared a year after that) and I've not had any ill-effects from the transfusion although I do get frustrated at no longer being allowed to give blood because now I am in a better place I would really love to replace what I took from the blood bank y'know?
No idea if that helps at all xxx
Thank you so much darling, you have really given me some great advice about the blood transfusion - and Bones is just fab!! π
DeleteI'm so glad to hear that April turned around for you and that you're feeling positive! Wishing you all the best.

DeleteRidiculous how quickly April went. Although I'm not mad to see the back of it because it was an awful month for me. Hopefully May is better!

DeleteI'm glad that April turned out to be much better for you than it started out! I agree that it went by so, so fast! My favorite things about April have actually been the cultural experiences of new movies and television shows, such as the Avengers and Game of Thrones. It was really nice to have a date day for the movie, and get hyped up about the show. I'm looking forward to warmer weather now! Thanks for sharing, and happy May. :)

DeleteI am happy that even though April was a roller coaster kind of month that it finished up with a positive vibe. For me, I just started another school here in my preschool class but it is good this year. No criers and just a smooth 10 day vacation right now.

DeleteI'm glad your month got better for you. April was a rollercoaster for me - work was crazy with 2 people in my dept off (we're only a team of 3 as it is), two staycations and my birthday in a couple of days!

DeleteI'm so glad that the month turned around for you after a rocky start and ended on a really positive note. It's amazing the different it makes when a professional listens to your concerns and answers all your questions, isn't it? I LOVE Bones - I'm steadily working my way through them and have just finished season 5 so still got quite a few to go! I hope May is great for you.
