A Day in The Life of a Full-Time Blogger

I thought I would share with you all what I get up to on a typical day of my week now that I am a full-time blogger.

I hate hate hate the way none-bloggers say that blogging is just an easy way of being on the dole and getting free stuff, and it's not like that at all. I've been to college and university, I've worked for two magazines, I have worked with some amazing brands before I went full-time blogging and I have had the privilege to spend the weekend working at Vogue House so please don't think that it's easy or that "dole-bums" only blog for free stuff. Bloggers work hard no matter what, whether they're part time or full time.

A lot of people, mainly none-bloggers, think blogging is so easy and a number of times over the years that I have heard people say "You're lazy for just blogging" or "Blogging isn't really hard work though is it" or even the worst one in my opinion "Blogging isn't really a job though is it".

YES, IT BLOODY WELL IS! Blogging is hard work and it takes up A LOT of time and effort unless you're a blogger yourself you don't understand how much time and effort bloggers put into their blog and their blog posts. It really is like just having an office job.

07:00AM | Wake up, coffee, get dressed.

08:00AM | Makeup, facial routine, etc.

09:00AM | Read and comment my favourite blogger's new posts.

10:00AM | Emails. Emails. Emails: I spend an hour each day tackling my email inbox.

11:00AM | Blogging time: writing, drafting, scheduling, all that good stuff.

01:00PM | Phil is home from work and we will have lunch.

01:30PM | Back to blogging time again.

05:00PM | Tea time meal with Phil.

06:00PM | If family isn't visiting then I will get involved in some twitter chats.

10:00PM | I'll catch up on any TV or movie I wanna see.

11:30PM | Bed time. My favourite part of the day.

Note: This is my typical weekday from Tuesday to Friday. Mondays are days I put aside each week to take and edit pictures so my day is very different from the rest of the week.

What does your day consist of?

  2. I had no idea you were a full time blogger! That's amazing and it's good to invest in your blog. It's hard work, but in the end it's so worth it, I feel! Great blogpost! I'm just juggling between uni and my job haha

  3. I love love love this!! I am currently juggling blogging between uni and my 2 part time jobs, but over Easter/Christmas/summer when I'm home I blog full time and it's just as demanding as a full time job. You have to be your own PR, admin, have to get to grips with HTML and it can consume so so so much of your time! Well done you for proving that full time blogging is a job, and isn't just about the freebies!

  5. I'm super nosey so this post is right up my street! I love seeing how other people spend their days! I am at university at the minute which as Hayley says, is as time consuming as a full time job! Over the summer, I intend to dedicate a lot more time to blogging, perhaps I'll try to emulate your routine!

  6. Great post! It's glad to see posts standing up for all the work that goes into blogging. My typical day is doing uni work from 10-5 and then tackling blog stuff! Then always try and watch a movie or tv show episode before bed to keep my sanity xx

  8. Oh wow this is amazing, didn't realise you were a full time blogger. Whoever says blogging isn't a job, clearly hasn't tried. We're both full time workers with two blogs and it's so so hard!

  11. This is a fab post, I only blog as a hobby but it's still hard work. You're right, non blogging friends think it's easy and just for free stuff. I enjoy what I do, if I did go full time your routine sounds a perfect way to keep on top of things.

  12. My routine is pretty similar on my days off work! I try to either blog during the day and relax on the night or vice versa. Having some me-time is very important too!
