Black Lives Matter | How Can You Help?

Hello my lovelies, I hope that you're all having a wonderful day. I have been wanting to write this post for days but I have had no clue where to start our how to even find the words to explain how sad, heartbroken and ashamed I feel. I've found that not addressing this topic and avoiding talking about racism until I found the right words was the wrong thing to do. Please never avoid talking about racism for fear of getting it wrong.

Black Lives Matter
To anyone who thinks that black lives do not matter, please leave my website, unfollow me on social media, you are not the type of person I want supporting me.

Following the murder of George Floyd by Minneapolis police offers, many people like myself want to take action again the racist systems that allowed this to happen.

#BlackLivesMatter was founded in 2013 in response to the acquittal of Trayvon Martin’s murderer. Black Lives Matter Foundation, Inc is a global organization in the US, UK, and Canada, whose mission is to eradicate white supremacy and build local power to intervene in violence inflicted on Black communities by the state and vigilantes. By combating and countering acts of violence, creating space for Black imagination and innovation, and centring Black joy, we are winning immediate improvements in their lives.

They are expansive. They are a collective of liberators who believe in an inclusive and spacious movement. They also believe that in order to win and bring as many people with us along the way, they must move beyond the narrow nationalism that is all too prevalent in Black communities. They must ensure we are building a movement that brings all of us to the front.

They affirm the lives of Black queer and trans folks, disabled folks, undocumented folks, folks with records, women, and all Black lives along the gender spectrum. Their network centres those who have been marginalized within Black liberation movements.

They are working for a world where Black lives are no longer systematically targeted for demise. They affirm our humanity, our contributions to this society, and our resilience in the face of deadly oppression. The call for Black lives to matter is a rallying cry for ALL Black lives striving for liberation.

You can take action by joining the movement to fight for Freedom, Liberation and Justice by signing up for updates, supporting their work, checking out their resources, following them on social media, or wearing their official gear. Click here to find out more.
