Five Ways To Handle Negative Thoughts

AD | Hello my lovelies, happy Monday, I hope you're all having a really wonderful start to your week! I wanted to open up a little bit today and talk about anxiety and share a few ways I cope with my negative thoughts on bad mental health days...

- Anxiety is your body's natural response to stress. It's a feeling of fear or apprehension about what's to come. The first day of school, going to a job interview, or giving a speech may cause most people to feel fearful and nervous. But if your feelings of anxiety are extreme, last for longer than six months, and are interfering with your life, you may have an anxiety disorder. Having an anxiety disorder makes you feel worried and stressed about many things, often they worry about even small things. Some people also may have panic attacks which is a panic attack is a sudden feeling of extreme anxiety and can be very traumatic. Here are my tips on handling negative thoughts:

| Be Conscious of Your Thoughts | As soon as you find yourself thinking a negative thought, stop yourself from thinking it and replace it with a happy thought or memory instead.

Keep Busy | Keeping your hands and mind occupied by doing tasks like cleaning, sorting, painting, knitting etc helps keep your mind away from negative thoughts.

| Avoid Triggers | Minimizing contact with negative people and avoiding negative triggers can help you stay positive and feeling calmer.

| Get Rest | Lack of sleep greatly affects your mood, causing you to feel anxious, irritable and angry. Meditating twice a day is great your clearing your mind and opening yourself up to your own body too.

| Listen To Music | Listening to your favourite music for around twenty-five minutes a day can bring about a great mood change and have a positive effect on your day and health. Sign up to Spotify free* to make your own personalised positive playlist.

I really hope some of these tips and tricks help you when it comes to dealing with your anxiety and coping with your own negative thoughts. I'll have a new article up in two days time on the first of next month so come back then for a little monthly life update. I'm sending you all so much love, happiness and positive vibes! x

With love, Alisha Valerie. x
