My Winter Skincare Essentials

Winter Skincare for me personally is always a massive problem as I have such dry skin around my t-zone and my cheeks are such acne-prone so getting a right mixture really does seem impossible. I am so happy to finally be able to say (and show you all) that I have found THE BEST beauty products which work for my skin, and of course, they are all cruelty-free!

Face Wipes || Superdrug Deep Action Pore Cleansing Pads *

[Priced at: £2.69] Finding good face wipes which won't make my skin even drier than it is usually can be a bit of a nightmare but these have been working great for me! They target spots and blackheads with its deep cleansing formula and they give you visible results within four hours! They are formulated using salicylic acid, an antibacterial which helps with the elimination of spot-causing bacteria and reduces breakouts. The textured surface of the pads encourages exfoliation, whilst the witch hazel in them helps to tighten pores and Camomile extract helps to sooth the skin for a clearer-looking complexion. Plus you get 40 wipes in the pot for under £3, I personally only just two wipes a day - one in the morning and one at night time so they really last me a little while.

Face Mask || The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask *

[Priced at: £15.00] This 100% vegan, tingling charcoal clay mask has changed my weekly routine. I've been using it once a week in my Pamper Routine and my skin has really changed a lot since using it. It looks brighter and feels so much more soft. The Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask from The Body* is my new go-to face mask every week! It's been inspired by Ayurvedic traditions and is infused with bamboo charcoal from the Himalayan Foothills, green tea leaves from Japan and organic Community Trade tea tree oil from Kenya. Now, I know what you are probably thinking - Yes, I am actually allergic to green tea and yes, my face does go bright red after I've used it but for what it has done to change my skin, I don't care. The redness goes away within a couple of hours so I use this of an evening and by morning it's wonderful.

Facial Exfoliation || Superdrug Deep Action Exfoliating Daily Wash *

[Priced at: £2.69] Although it says to use this product twice a day, I've only been using it once a day of a morning. Literally from the first time using this product it has made a difference in my skin. I love it and can never do my morning facial routine without it. This Deep Action Exfoliating Daily Wash* is formulated with a purifying blend of gentle cleansing and anti-bacterial ingredients to effectively remove dirt, oil and impurities, helping prevent breakouts. The invigorating formula also contains small coloured beads that burst on application, providing deep pore cleansing for a clearer-looking complexion. It's completely helped the acne side of my skin and I have noticed I've been getting less and less spots.

Toner || Simple Kind To Skin Soothing Facial Toner

[Priced at: £3.29] I really struggle with finding a toner which works for myself and my skin (please if you know a cruelty free one which you can recommend for my skin it would be really wonderful) but this one, although isn't perfect is the only one I have found that doesn't seem like it's not doing anything. Although it does seem like I have to put LOADS onto my skin for it to work I can't rave about it too much.

Eye Care || The Body Shop Vitamin E Eye Cube *

[Priced at: £9.00] This really is one of the best beauty products I have ever used in my life. If you haven't seen these before, they are a refreshing anti-fatigue eye stick with protective vitamin E, wheatgerm oil, and includes community trade soya oil from Brazil. It's a very gentle, easy-glide application that moisturises, cools and instantly revives the appearance of tired eyes. The Body Shop's Eye Cube* is suitable for all skin types and really is ideal for travel. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT. This can help anyone and everyone; people who have hay-fever, tried mum's, early morning workers and/or students, people who have tried eyes in general and even people who need a wake up call/boost from a hangover. It really can work for anyone.

Serum || Hey Honey Good Morning Honey Silk Facial Serum *

[Priced at £31.00] I've found that this light and luxurious moisturising serum is so perfect under my makeup primer and really has made a difference in my routine. It seems to help make my makeup last that much longer when I wear it too, which of course is a bonus. It replenishes and protects the skin to improve tone for elegantly glowing skin, with it's rich moisturiser and nutrients such as honey, silk amino acids, sea buck-thorn oil, and Vitamin E it really provides intense moisture and radiantly smooth skin. Plus it's  SLS and Paraben free, and fits in my handbag perfectly. I've really been loving this little beauty again recently.

Moisturiser || Dr Botanicals Moroccan Rose Natural Facial Moisturiser *

[Priced at: £91.50] Firstly thank you so much to Dr Botanicals for working with me for this blog post. If you read My August Favourites back in September, you'll know that the amazing people at Dr Botanicals sent me their Moroccan Rose Moisturiser to try and from the first time I used it, I completely and utterly fell in love with it. This stuff has helped my skin so much and its really helped my skin as I have really bad dry acne skin but this makes my skin so clear and soft, I love it.  If you haven't tried this out before than you really, really need to do so - it is wonderful. It is a little bit pricey at £90 but it really is worth the money, maybe as for it as a Christmas present?

Over Night Face Mask || The Body Shop Vitamin E Sleep In Mask *

[Priced at: £10.00] The Body Shop's light, gel-cream mask helps to infuse optimum moisture levels into the skin with intense hydration. It's been formulated with protective vitamin E and moisturising wheatgerm oil, and with community trade soya oil from Brazil. It's such a great leave-on formula and really seems to give my skin a very intense moisture boost, which having such horrible dry skin I really need in th winter months. I would really recommend you all trying this product out and see if it helps your skin as much as it's helped mine.

If you've tried any of these products I would really love to know what you think? Hope you all enjoyed reading this blog post - my next blog post will be up on Wednesday at 12noon GMT time.

With love, Alisha Valerie. x

  1. You and I have the opposite winter skin problems haha, my skin can get so oily if I don't care for it properly! I've never heard of an overnight leave-in mask before, that's so intriguing! I need to hit up the Body Shop😍

  4. I love having a nosy at what other people consider their skincare picks. I suffer from eczema and dry skin a lot. I love that you like drugstore products; I have a few Superdrug products and adore Wilko's sensitive skincare range too! £90 for a moisturiser sounds like an awful lot so I'm glad you got it as a freebie!
