Hi, I'm Back!

Opening up and talking about mental illness is one of the hardest and scariest things anyone suffering ever has to do. How do you ask for help for something when you have no idea how you're feeling or why you're feeling like this? How can you talk to someone when you don't know if they will laugh at you or think you're weird?

I've known for a long time I've been a sufferer with mental illness but whenever I plucked up the courage to talk about it with someone close to me, I always got the same answer, "don't be stupid, why are you feeling like that?" It was horrible and heartbreaking for me. A couple of months back something happened, I don't want to talk about what as it's all still fresh and all still going on, but it pushed me to the edge of the cliff in my mind where I considered (more than once) jumping off.

I want to say a massive thank you to Beth because you have no idea how much you helped me. You honestly saved my life. If I wouldn't have opened up and talked to you that day I have no doubt in my mind that I wouldn't still be here today. Beth gave me back my confidence to be able to talk to people and open up to tell them how I feel. I spoke to my husband and then Daisy UK who put me in touch with their counselor. Councilling has really help me too and because of all these special amazing people around me who have taken the time to help me, I'm now back to blogging and I am happy with my life again. I'm even confidence enough to put the above picture up on my blog and social media of me with no makeup, overgrown eyebrows (I haven't had them waxed or tinted in over a month!) and with my new hair style. What do you all think of it?

Please if you're going through mental health issues or simply just have a lot going through your mind right now, talk to someone, don't keep it all bottled up like I did for too long.

I can't wait to share with you all some of the awesome blog posts I have scheduled to go live this month and the absolutely fabulous brands I have had the chance to work with. I hope you all have an amazing month ahead.

With love, Alisha Valerie. x

  7. I'm so glad to read that you're feeling better. I feel so thankful that when I finally felt able to open up about my mental illness, the people around me were supportive and helped me get the medical help I needed. I don't know what I would have done without that support but I probably wouldn't be here today. Thanks for being brave enough to write this post about your mental health. I'm a believer that every post is working to help break down the stigma around mental illness. Every time I read a story of hope like this it inspires me to keep going :)
