Mulled Wine | DIY

Friday nights for me are all about relaxing at home and enjoying some time with my husband. This usually means a takeaway with a movie snuggled up on the sofa and the candles lit, and that to me is perfection after a long week. One thing I do love on a Friday is an alcoholic drink, I'm not a big drinker I only have about one or two drinks but it's something I look forward to so I thought I would share with you all what I get up to and also my favourite Autumn/Winter Mulled Wine DIY...

What You Need:
1 bottle of red wine || 60g/2oz of demerara sugar || 1 cinnamon stick
Grated nutmeg || 1 orange, halved || 1 dried bay leaf

What To Do:
Put the wine in a saucepan with the orange, sugar, bay-leaf and the spices. || Heat gently until the sugar has dissolved. Taste to see if you want the wine sweeter, and add more sugar to taste. || Off the heat, stir in the sloe or damson gin if you are using it. || Strain into heatproof glasses and serve at once.

This recipe is not my own, and comes from the BBC Food website* who teamed up with me for this blog post. If you haven't checked out this website before then I would really recommend it to everyone; from vegetarians and vegans, to meat eaters because there really is something for everyone. To see this recipe and more recipes then check out the BBC Food website

Once the Mulled Wine DIY is all finished Phil and me will sit down and order a takeaway, I'll put some comfortable PJ's on and we will have a chat about our day whilst munching on our food; it's this time we usually pick a movie to watch too. Once we have finished eating our tasty food, I will get involved in two of my favourite twitter chats: #GBloggers and #SpoonieSpeak until 8pm and then once the chats are finished I'll go snuggle up on the sofa with Phil and our puppy Daisy, settle down for the night and we will watch a movie whilst drinking our homemade Mulled Wine. I really hope you all enjoyed this blog post and seeing a little bit more into my life and what I get up to. Let me know if you try out the Mulled Wine recipe? It's such a classic winter time drink which everyone seems to love!

With love, Alisha Valerie. x

  4. I absolutely love mulled wine! I had a glass in a pub last night and it set me back £3.95, so making it myself is probably a much cheaper alternative! Thanks for sharing your recipe!

  6. I love mulled wine! It's just the perfect evening drink. My cousin usually always makes a bit pot of it on Christmas Day and it's become somewhat of a tradition for us.
