Hello January | 2019

I am so happy that it's now January and we are into another year, however, I can't believe how quickly last year went and how much has changed in my life - it's actually rather scary.

Honestly, December started terribly for me. I was in and out of the hospital due to appointments with so many different doctors and I felt like all I received every time was bad news, I had a couple of breakdowns where I cried which if you know me is something I hardly ever do when it comes to my health as I'm usually rather strong about it all and just get on with it.

The middle of December I was in and out of the hospital with appointments, it was annoying but it had to be done. At one appointment I was diagnosed with shingles. Singles! I was gutted. I was put on bed rest and other than going downstairs on Christmas Day for my lunch, I have spent so much time in bed but it has actually been so good for me. Of course, I have been healing my foot where the shingles is but it has meant that I became so creative with colouring and drawing again and even managed to read some new books on my new Amazon Fire which my husband got me as a Christmas present. I've had a really wonderful relaxing few weeks just catching up on life and having lots of self-care.

Once Christmas Day was been and gone, December was over with before I knew it. I was looking ahead and looking forward to starting a New Year with lots of plans and goals, the first and main one of them being to get rid of these damn bloody horrible shingles from my foot!

How was your December? Did you have a wonderfully festive Christmas time? Do you have any goals for January? Let me know by leaving me a comment below?

With love, Alisha Valerie. x

  1. I had shingles when I was younger, unfortunately it left me with a small scar. Sorry to hear your December was mainly spent in hospital waiting rooms! Wishing you the best 2019 possible! x

  7. That sounds like a rough month, I hope that you're feeling better and everything is clearing up! The holiday season is a crazy one for me, I teach with a marching band and we had 8 different Santa Claus parades to perform in this year. So, now I'm at the point I'm just enjoying everything slowing back down again lol

  11. Ahh that's gutting that you've been so poorly during December and through Christmas! It's great that you've looked at it positively though, in that it managed to give you time to do other things. My Christmas and New Year was fairly chilled, I waa just glad to have some time off work - 12 days in total! Wishing you a much healthier new year

  16. I really hope that January is a little better for you health wise, Alisha! It seems like December really put you through the ringer with the shingles and the rest of the hospital visits, but I'm glad that some much needed rest time in bed helped you to feel better! Wishing you nothing but happiness for January!

  21. First of all: wishing you all the best and sending love and positive energy + hoping you feel better soon and get some good news regarding your health in the coming months. I started a new job in November so I was working throughout the festive period but it's been okay! My major goals for this year are to save up for a trip as well as take more time for self care.

My December was pretty bad for my mental health so I'm glad it's January. New year, new start.
