200 Degrees Liverpool Launch | Press Event

Hello my lovelies! Last week I was invited to attend a press launch event at 200 Degrees Liverpool in the Metquarter and wow what an event it was...

"Some time, several years ago, two bar owners wanted to serve the best possible cup of coffee to their customers. Thus began a search, that started a journey, which became an obsession, and leads to two men being alone in the corner of a garage (with a coffee roaster) until finally, in 2012, they created 200 Degrees Coffee and decided to show it to the world, starting with Nottingham.

That was the beginning and there are now eight 200 Degrees coffee shops and five barista schools in the UK as well as hundreds of happy wholesale and business customers enjoying our ‘beans and machines’.

So why did we call ourselves 200 DEGREES? It’s because we roast our coffee a slightly lower temperature than normal of 200 degrees centigrade that yields it’s smoother, deeper taste. We then serve our coffee at around 200 degrees Fahrenheit, so it made sense to us.

Like lots of people, we are passionate about coffee and whilst we're sure there are more important things in life, we just can't think of any. We spend all day roasting, making, drinking and talking about ‘coffee coffee coffee coffee’ but we also understand that the perfect cup of coffee is not just about taste or even about what’s in the cup, it’s about doing everything the right way. We aim to be a company with high standards in everything we do and that applies to our coffee, our shops, our service and the way we treat people, including our suppliers." - taken from their website.

Located at 35 Whitechapel in Liverpool's Metquarter, this coffee shop is like no other. I decided to take my friend with me to the event as I needed someone to push me there in my wheelchair and he, like myself, is a massive coffee lover. We turned up at the store and were welcomed by so many friendly members of staff, including the lovely Rebecca from the PR company who invited us to the event looking stunning in her dress, all of the staff couldn't do enough for us and were all so friendly. We were shown around and offered some free drinks and a selection of cakes to try - which of course we did!

I got myself a vegan cappuccino made with soy milk and a vegan double chocolate cake, and my best friend got himself a chocolate mocha and a caramel shortbread cake. We sat at the table and our coffees were bought over to us, I cannot even explain enough how amazingly tasting their coffee and cakes are! If you're not a fan of coffee or hot drinks, no worries, they do a massive selection of cold drinks, tea's and hot chocolates and even have a selection of breakfasts (including vegan ones) and lunches (vegan versions coming soon) so you have no excuse not to go along to one of their stores!

Every single member of staff took the time to come and say hello to us and welcome us to the store, and we had a proper chit chat with some of the staff and learnt the back story and how they started working for the company etc. We also learnt that wifi is free in all of their stores and you only need to sign in with your email address to use it - perfect for us bloggers!

The decor of 200 Degrees is so gorgeous too - if you can imagine stepping out of the busy streets of Liverpool into a beautiful designed like-no-other space that has a very Amsterdam central theme to it. Even though the whole store feels very big and open, all of the tables seem to be in their own little private corners which are perfect for meeting up with friends for a gossip, work meetings or even if you just wanted some time to yourself alone. They have a wheelchair accessible toilet which is so big and spacious too and can be opened by a radar key by asking the staff at the counter (always a plus for us spoonies and wheelchair users). Plus smelling the brewed coffee as soon as you walk into their store is a big plus in my eyes.

When leaving we were given some cakes to take with us, a cold coffee, a bottle of ginger ale, coupons for free coffee when returning and even a big bag of coffee (pictured above) to have at home - which we have done so already and just like we thought it tastes so yummy! I would highly recommend checking out your nearest coffee shop and popping along so that you can fall in love with them yourself. Let me know your thoughts when you have been to their store?

With love, Alisha Valerie. x
