Hello July | 2019

Hello my lovelies! Well, June came and went so quickly didn't it? Even though I'd been dreading June for a big reason (will talk about this below) I am so happy that I survived it with my mental health still intact.

Start of June was rubbish for me, not only did we have really horrible rainy grey weather I also had a vile migraine that lasted four days (three of which I spent in bed!) - thankfully I'm going much better now and I'm feeling more back to normal.

The saddest, most heartbreaking thing about June was that it was my Nan's birthday on June 11th and the first one I celebrated without her since her passing away from cancer last July. It was a really hard day and one I felt very bittersweet about.

On June 16th, aka Fathers Day which happened to fall right on my husband's birthday this year, Phil and I had a little mini holiday to Southport courtesy of Travelodge. We had such a fab time (other than me being given a beef burger when I asked for a vegan burger at a restaurant!), but there is going to be more of that coming soon in a blog post.

Also this month we celebrated my brothers twentieth birthday. I really cannot believe he is twenty years old. We celebrated by going for a wonderful meal at The Game Bird* in Eccleston, with my husband, my brother and his girlfriend, and my parents.

Oh, and did I mention that I celebrate my blog birthday a few days ago on the 29th? I cannot believe that my little blog turned five years old! I am so thankful to everyone over the past five years who have helped me grow my blog and who continue to take the time to read and comment on my posts, I love you all so much.

June has ended with me being very excited about the summer and all of the things I have planned - more details on this will be featured on My Instagram.

How was your June? Did you get up to anything exciting? What are your plans and goals for July? Leave me a comment below and let me know your thoughts and what you're going to be getting up to? Sending everyone so much love and happiness for your month ahead!

With love, Alisha Valerie. x

  10. I'm so sorry to hear about your Nan. June did pretty much fly by and I'm kinda glad it did (although this year is passing far too quickly!) because I had a sad little anniversary in June - it would have been nephew 3's 1st birthday and I wasn't prepared to feel as sad as I did. I thought I'd gained closure when we scattered his ashes but I'm not sure if you ever do gain closure from something like that.
    Sorry, I'm rambling on.
The trip to travelodge sounds super exciting, albeit alarming that they don't know the difference between beef and vegan!
I'm excited for July, I have some personal goals, a trip cat sitting, and there's a date in the diary to visit nephew 4 (and parents) and I've not seen him since easter so I'm betting he is so different now! I'm excited to hear his giggle again and I've heard he's crawling now so even more fun to play with :D

  23. I'm so sorry to hear about your grandma passing... Hope you're okay <3 I'm glad that the month ending on a nicer tone than it started! I'm curious - what did you do with the beef burger in the end? Did they take it back? I would've been horrified!

    1. They took it back and then gave me another burger which they said was vegen. I ate two bites of it but felt it as it didn't taste right and then was sick for days so I think they gave me another beef burger tbh. 💜

  24. Congratulations on your blog birthday! It definitely sounds like June was a mixed bag of emotions, I'm especially sorry to hear about your Nan, it always gets difficult celebrating their birthdays when they're no longer here. Sending you love and looking forward to reading about your plans for the summer!

  27. Happy Blogoversary! It's exciting to see you still going strong after 5 years, still showing so much passion for what you do. I'm sorry for your loss, anniversaries relating to that (birthdays, holidays, anniversary of the passing) can all be so difficult. Here's to an amazing July.
