Food-Related Things To Do During a Colitis or Crohns Flare Up | Crohns and Colitis UK

Hello my lovelies! Unless you're a sufferer you really don't understand the agony that we sufferers have when we're in ulcerative colitis or crohn's disease flare-up, the pain has been provided to sometimes be worse than labour pain and it is constant. So as you can imagine you really don't feel like eating at all, but I wanted to share some of the food-related tips I eat whenever I am in a colitis flare-up in hope that it will help others.

What is Ulcerative Colitis and Crohns Disease?

Ulcerative Colitis is an inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) that causes long-lasting inflammation and ulcers in your digestive tract. Ulcerative colitis affects the innermost lining of your large intestine and rectum. Crohn's disease is a long-term condition that causes inflammation of the lining of the digestive system.


Food-Related Things To Do During a Colitis or Crohns Flare Up

 - Drink vegetable broth and a lot of it.

 - Drink water, and a lot of it.

 - Do not have any caffeine or alcohol, whatsoever.

 - Do not have any seeds at all: including from veggies and fruit.

 - Not nuts of any kind whatsoever.

 - Eliminate the number of skins from fruit and veggies you have.

 - Watch and monitor your fibre consumption.

 - Do not have anything that contains artificial flavourings, chemicals, etc.

 - Eminiate sugar completely.

 - Eat bland food: boiled rice, mashed potatoes, etc.
