AD | Hello my lovelies! On Friday 6th December 2019, the new taqueria and cocktail bar, Madre*, opened its doors at Royal Albert Dock Liverpool with an amazing launch party filled with tacos, tequila and late-night dancing. Over 200 of Liverpool’s leading journalists and influencers attended the launch event, including the boys from Channel 4’s ‘The Circle’, along with key people from the food and drink industry.
Large neon signs indicated the location of the Dock’s newest hot-spot, which is accessible via Atlantic Pavillion and Anchor Courtyard. Split over two floors with a 46-cover restaurant on the mezzanine level and casual dining area downstairs, MADRE serves lunch through to dinner and a late-night snack selection at the weekends when the restaurant is open until 2am.
Guests gathered around the large feature bar which takes centre stage downstairs and sipped on flavoured Margaritas, beers and natural wines. Throughout the evening samples of the menu were served, which included Pork Al Pastor tacos; a tasty combination of spit-roast marinated pork with pineapple and salsa verde, deep-fried mushroom tacos with chipotle aioli and roasted pasilla chilli, along with crispy potatoes served with refried beans, garlic sour cream and chipotle salsa.
From 9pm, revellers really got into the party spirit with a DJ set from Crazy P who took to the decks and danced the night away until the early hours.
From the talented team behind esteemed Liverpool restaurants Belzan and Volpi, and London based street food enthusiasts, Breddos Tacos, MADRE is set to be one of Liverpool’s most exciting new venues offering vibrant interiors, a stellar cocktail list, and a mouth-watering Mexican menu.
With love, Alisha Valerie. x
