My Self-Care Routine | Spring 2019

Hello my lovelies! If you've followed me for a while then you'll already know that self-care and pampering to me are something that is really important and I think that everyone needs to take some time for themselves at least once a week, so for this week's blog post I wanted to share what I get up to when I have some time to myself and how I relax after a very long week.

I start my pamper evening with my favourite ever food. I really enjoy making a yummy Chinese fakeaway of homemade vegan chick'n curry with loads of mixed onions, red and yellow peppers and mushrooms which is served with a side of boiled rice.

The first thing I do after a really long day is take my makeup off (if I am wearing any) with my Nivea Daily Essentials Wipes which I picked up in Poundland - bargain! They're a three-in-one
gentle cleansing wipes that quickly and easily cleanse and remove make-up, even waterproof mascara. They're enriched with natural almond oil and are thankfully suitable for horrible dry skin like mine. I find finding wipes for my skin can sometimes be a nightmare because of my dry skin but I would highly recommend these ones if you're wanting to try some.

I love having a shower on pampering evenings (I do miss my bubble baths a lot) and I think a good hair treatment is great so I like to use my Alchemy Grapefruit Hair Remedy*, it's perfect for my dyed hair and makes it feel silky and smooth. I then use my Green People Organic Life Haircare Moisturising and Hydrating Shampoo* and my Green People Organic Life Haircare Intensive Repair and Strengthening Conditioner* to clean my hair, and yes I always use a hair treatment before my shampoo and conditioner, I know some people prefer to do it the other way but for me this works. I have super dry skin so I only like using a scrub on my body and face once a week as I get really red sensitive skin otherwise so during my pampering time once a week I use my Soap & Glory Vitamin C Facial Wash to scrub my face and my Hempz Beauty Pink Pomelo & Himalayan Sea Salt Scrub* for my body. If you haven't tried anything from Hempz Beauty* then I would highly recommend doing so - everyone must know by now how much I love a good hemp product! Finally, I wash my body in this wonderfully smelling beauty, Superdrug Pink Fizz Bath and Shower Gel* which you can buy for under one pound at Superdrug* and it smells amazing!

After my shower, I love using a good face mask and the one I reach for the most is the Superdrug Charcoal Peel Off Face Mask*. It's such an easy peel away mask that removes all of the dirt and grime that may be left on my skin. It's full of activated charcoal to deep pore cleanse and blended witch hazel and birch leaf to leave skin feeling fresh and clear. You can buy this amazing underrated product for only 99p from Superdrug*.
Whilst my facemask is doing its work, I love relaxing with a guided meditation. My favourite person ever to meditate with is Michael Sealey on YouTube, and I would highly recommend him for newer people who are looking to meditate but don't know where to start or how to do so.

Once my facemask is off, I use my Dr Botanicals Pomegranate Superfood Sleeping Maskand my Nivea Soft Rose Lip Balm then place my head on my pillow for a night of rest and sleep.
I've been using a new pillowcase on my pillow which I was gifted from Calidad Home*, they're so comfortable and great for the Spring weather as they stay cool throughout the night. You can enjoy these pillows too with a ten-per-cent discount when using code 'thanks10' at the checkout.

What does your pampering evening consist of? What do you like doing for some self-care time? Have you tried any of these products? I'd love to know so leave me a comment below with your thoughts? Hope everyone has a wonderful day,

With love, Alisha Valerie. x

  4. My perfect self care pamper night is a takeaway, watching a series I love, maybe a bath and then playing Red Dead Redemption!

  18. Pamper evenings are my favourite! They are the best way to really unwind and relax. I like to have a hot bath and use one of my lush bath bombs and then relax with a face mask and whatever I’m watching on Netflix! X

  19. You can't beat a good pamper session. Although, I'd advise moving away from wipes of your skin is dry. I started using cleansing butter from The Body Shop to remove my make up and it has worked wonders.

  20. I need to start implementing some of these into my evenings as well! Your skin and hair must be radiating!
