Common Everyday Triggers To Avoid | Crohns and Colitis UK

AD | Hello my lovelies! I wanted to share some of the best ways to avoid causing yourself a flare-up by cutting out certain foods every day. I'm really hoping that some of these help you...

| Coffee | As much as I adore coffee, coffee beans are a natural stimulant and can create diarrhoea and abdominal cramping.

| Processed Foods | These foods contain all sorts of refined sugars and yucky chemicals, which is why I always recommend cooking at home every night and only going out to eat occasionally for special times.

| Dairy Products | The majority of the United States and the United Kingdom have trouble digesting dairy. Cutting out all dairy foods is perfection.

| Gluten | Gluten is difficult to digest and is not good in large amounts.

| Fried Foods | Greasy foods are notorious for irritating the gut. Avoid as much as possible.

| Alcohol | Alcohol can cause many problems in the digestive tract so if you are going to drink then make sure you do it in stages.

| Artificial Sugars | These are basically chemicals that you shouldn't consume, to begin with anyway.

| Excess Sugar | Sweets commonly create stomach aches in large quantities.

| Spicy Foods | Spices can really irritate your gut and cause cramping.

| Caffeine | Caffeine can create abdominal cramping and bloating.

 - Other things to consider are stress, infections and side effects of other drugs.

What do you avoid to stop you getting a flare-up? Are these some of the things that you avoid? Send me a tweet or a message on Instagram and let me know?

With love, Alisha Valerie. x
